OOC

*Backtagging: Generally yes. I'm sometimes slow, especially when work picks up, so I don't mind backtagging.
*Threadhopping: Absolutely. Just give me a quick heads up.
*Fourth Walling: I'd prefer not, in this case. There's a lot of messed up things in canon already to screw with his head, having someone know all the details of his life might be a bit too much for him.
*Friending: Of course! I'm at [plurk.com profile] la_fille_en_histoire
*Canon Warning: Game of Thrones is a dark series. It's a show full of different trigger warnings, including violence, incest, animal death, rape, cannibalism and extremely angsty subjects. Jon won't really talk about a lot of this, save for the mention that some loved ones have died, but little else unless prompted. Just give me a heads up if there is anything you want to avoid and I'll make sure to avoid the topic with him.
*IC =/= OOC: Communication is key for me. The last thing I want is for there to be misunderstandings or problems to develop. RP is meant to be fun. Feel free to talk to me at any point, even if it seems small.

IC

*Platonic Physical Contact: If you are family, then yes. Otherwise, Jon isn't really one to hug or touch overly much. He's one of those strong and serious types. I welcome attempts for people to hug him, but the result will mainly be an awkward reaction.
*Romantic/Sexual Physical Contact: Jon is a slow burn shipper. He lost his first and only love not that long ago and is still suffering from the pain of that. Now that his death has past, I think it's possible for him to open up enough to let someone in, but it's not going to be a quick thing. A trust has to develop and the person really has to have a strong connection with him. This is something I'd love to discuss more at length, if there is an interest, but it will be a bit of a journey.
*Violent Physical Contact: If you punch him (and are not a woman), he'll punch you back. Jon's been trained as a warrior and will fight, if needed. I absolutely welcome altercations and misunderstandings. Jon seems to invite trouble.
*Mindreading: Talk to me first.
*Killing/Death: This would require a plot and a chat about what will go down. He's died before and been brought back, it would be a difficult for him to go through it again. I'm open to putting him through the ringer, but I'd like to have a game plan in mind.

Powers Permission

The Crow: Being a Stark, Jon feels things deeply and broods often. This power would allow him to influence the emotions of others in three particular ways. He can influence others to feel depression/sadness/brooding, extreme anger, or rally their courage. It would only influence either a particular person or a small radius (10 feet at least) and it only lasts for a short period of time.

Basically, Jon will be able to manipulate emotions in three ways, but only for those in proximity of him. If you want to opt out of this, please let me know. If your character has an ability that might conflict with or cancel out Jon's ability, just give me a heads up.

〈 CHARACTER INFO 〉
CHARACTER NAME: Jon Snow
CHARACTER AGE: 21
SERIES: Game of Thrones (I mix both show and books canon, but rely more heavily on the show more often.)
CHRONOLOGY: End of Season 6
CLASS: Hero with brooding Batman syndrome
HOUSING: If possible, I'd like for him to be placed in De Chima, Virginia. I'm open to any sort of housing and roommates.

BACKGROUND:

Game of Thrones is based off of the medieval fantasy novels A Song of Ice and Fire. Jon is a main character in both the show and the books. I have a provided a wiki to both here: (show and books).

PERSONALITY:

The word that is most often used to describe Jon is "brooding." Much like his adopted father, Jon bears a grim countenance to the world. Living as a bastard in the north shaped him into someone with little reason to smile and a great series of walls around himself. There are instances when he smiles and laughs, but these moments are generally brought out by his close friends. In fact, when Jon actually makes a joke in Season 6, his friend Edd responds, "You sure that's you in there?"

Like all Starks, Jon has a deeply rooted sense of honor. It compels him to come to the aid of those who are in need and act in ways that can be interpreted as "naive" or "foolish." One of the best examples occurred in Season 6 during "the Battle of the Bastards". Despite being warned that his adversary, Ramsay Bolton, enjoyed toying with people and Jon should not fall into his trap, that is what happened. Ramsay had Rickon (Jon's "half-brother") run across the battlefield as he shot arrows at the boy, barely missing him. Rather than stand by, Jon rode out to meet his brother, only to be left stranded away from his army and in a vulnerable position for attack.

Honor also sent him into a cycle of self guilt (something that he has only recently managed to shake.) He held his vows for the Night's Watch seriously, even viewing his taking a lover as a betrayal to that oath. This is in spite of the fact that men in the Watch often have lovers. He also turns down the chance to be legitimized by Stannis Baratheon and reclaim Winterfell, despite this being something that he has wanted since he was a boy. He instead turns it down because of the vows he made and the honor that compels him to stay.

It's his practicality that leads him to put aside long standing grudges that have existed in the north for generations. Men in the Night's Watch had been trained to fight the Wildlings and to hate them fiercely. Jon, however, recognizing the overlying threat to the realm, as well as getting to know the free folk personally, sets aside this bias and helps to relocate thousands of them south of the Wall. He is fully aware that some of his actions will divide others, as well as gain censure, however he follows what he believes is the right course. It's something that he discussed once with Maester Aemon when speaking about Ned Stark. "If the day should ever come where your lord father must choose between honor on the one hand and those he loves on the other, what would he do?" "He would do what is right. No matter what." This is a path he follows, even when he wants to walk away from it all.

After being resurrected, Jon is pushed by Sansa to reclaim Winterfell and the north. Jon protests, claiming he is tired of fighting. In the end, he agrees because he believes it is the right course to take, not for his family, but also in facing the Others.

However, his most enduring legacy is that he is "a man that knows nothing." There is a great deal of naivety in Jon that stems not only from his youth, but also the rigid upbringing he had under Ned Stark. He expects others to act a certain way, honorable and just, much like the other Stark children. It's what keeps him from seeing how low and cruelly some men are willing to sink. He lived by a certain code in the Night's Watch, but he was betrayed and killed by his brothers. He expected Ramsay to wage war in the same manner that all men do in the realm, which made him susceptible to Ramsay's tricks and guerilla war tactics. Even still, after being resurrected and named king, he doesn't seem to grasp how underhanded the game of thrones can be. He doesn't suspect the influence that Littlefinger might have had on Sansa or the potential danger among his men.

More pronounced than that though is the certain noble quality that speaks to men. Jon is regarded as a leader, able to inspire men and rally them to his cause. Despite being young, he is named as Lord Commander of the Night's Watch by most of the men. They turned to him during various times of danger, including when the Wall was under attack. Even his bastard status (something that lowers him in noble society) doesn't prevent the men of the north from naming him their king. He bears the qualities of a leader, something that is rarely seen in the show, and only by one other character (Daenerys).

Despite this, he remains humble and often self deprecating. "I'm not a Stark", he often says, forever carrying that weight about his shoulders that makes him more of a Stark than he'll admit.

POWER:

Ghost: One of the six direwolf pups found at the beginning of the show. Ghost is Jon's companion and the wolf he raised, the pair sharing a deep bond (to the extent that Ghost anticipated when Jon was coming back to life). Direwolves are larger than average wolves, near the height of normal men. Ghost is an albino wolf with red eyes that moves silently like a ghost (appropriately named).

He attacks anyone that threatens Jon and fights alongside him whenever Jon goes to battle. For those that Jon views as friends, Ghost guards them as well, a major example being when he saved Samwell when he was being attacked by a few men of the Night's Watch.

Ghost and Jon are near inseparable, where one goes, the other is not far behind.

Warging: Like many of the Stark children, Jon is able to skinchange primarily into Ghost. In "dreams", he can see through Ghost's eyes and control his movements. It's because of the bond that he and Ghost share that it is possible, as this is a key factor in warging. In canon, he is unaware of his ability, but when he arrives in game, he'll be able to warg more easily and consciously.

〈 CHARACTER SAMPLES 〉
COMMUNITY POST (VOICE) SAMPLE:

[The struggle to turn the device is, thankfully, unseen by the network. When the screen finally comes to life, Jon appears stoic and calm, brooding heavily as always.]

If you want to survive in any new environment, it is important to know your surroundings and learn from those that understand this sort of world. [He learned that the hard way at the Wall and among the free folk.] This place and the items in it are unfamiliar to me, as are the customs and people. I don't understand a great deal about what we are, but I know we are expected to wage a war.

[There is a grimace on his face.]

I have no choice but to appeal to those that know this world better than I do. I am at a disadvantage. I need to learn about the war that is being waged, to hear it from those who would know better and speak more honestly than those that brought us here. My name is Jon Snow and so long as there are those that will fight for me, so will I fight for you.

LOGS POST (PROSE) SAMPLE: TDM Thread

FINAL NOTES: Jon will be bringing a few items with him. He'll have his Stark cloak that Sansa made for him, as well as his Valryian steel sword "Long Claw".
