[He doesn't answer. Instead, he shuts off his phone without a word.]

[ Cesare is not keen on that response at all. He immediately goes to Cesare's front door and waits. If Jon doesn't want to talk to him, Cesare will have to make him. ]

[He wasn't lying when he said he wasn't home. It was early in the morning before he and Ghost finally returned, the direwolf smelling Cesare before Jon did.

He was exhausted and hardly in the mood to talk to him.]

Go home.

[ He stands firm. If Jon thinks it's going to be that easy...]

Were you with her?

[He's not rattled, instead going to unlock his door.]

If you think I was the one turning her against you, why are you afraid if she heard you or not? Didn't you say you were justified?

[ He snarls. Jon is reading into his words and he doesn't like it. ]

[He's seen worse than Cesare, still not answering him as he finally manages to unlock the door.]

[ Frustrated with being dismissed, Cesare grabs at the other man's collar, pulling him back suddenly and pressing him up against the wall. ]

[Ghost was looming nearby, seemingly larger than before as his hackles raised and his teeth bared.]

I don't have my sword, but I'm not unarmed. Do you want to risk it?

[ Cesare grits his teeth and holds Jon for a second, not sure how to act at the threat. ]

I want the truth.

[Ghost was closer now, louder than before.]

If she heard what you said, you'd know it by now.

[ He swallows but eventually lets go, stepping back, his breathing heavy.]

[ Jon is the whole reason he's in this mess. At least that's what he thinks. ]

I spoke to her of something between us, something you brought up yourself. It wasn't your affairs but mine with her.

[He's not taking the blame for Cesare's actions.]

[He shakes his head immediately.]

She believes I suggested impropriety between the two of us to you. I did not. You guessed.

[Or at least he hadn't said it outright, not until today.]

I didn't need to guess, it was implied.

And you believe it?

[He quirks an eyebrow, unable to help himself from rolling his eyes.]

[He's had enough of this conversation and the baiting.]

[He laughs, tilting his head almost sympathetically.]

Do your sick theories break your heart?

[And he has more confidence saying that than he might have before.]

I saw a life with Lucrezia in that hotel. We're betrothed.
