[As much as he didn't want to be pulled into any conflict, he was slowly finding himself drawn more and more to one side over the other.]
My family chose Olympia. So long as they are here, it will be my home.
[Not "home" home, but it wasn't meaningless either.]
It isn't a war I want to see.

Your family's here?
[She seems cheered a bit by the thought.]

They are, some of them. My sister and father are awake and my brother and younger sister were for a short time.
[But not anymore.]
Do you have family here?

[A quiet shake of her head. Her expression is mournful at the edges, but she doesn't want to bring the mood too far down.]
Nah. They were all on my home planet. But we'd parted ways before the storm even came.

I'm sorry. That can't be an easy thing. Were they saved?
[He did his best to smile in sympathy, if only to keep a certain lightness to the conversation.]

[She shakes her head, trying not to look too sad. This is a party, after all.]
I have a friend in stasis, but that seems to be all.

Have you met others here? New friends?
[Sometimes that could be better than family.]
I hope your friend wakes soon.

[A dismissive shrug. She sort of wishes she still had her drink, so she could occupy her hands with the glass.]
Acquaintances, mainly. A few coworkers. No one I'd stop off at the pub with, really.

That could change in time? We don't know how long we will be here, but we're not in this alone.
We have to face the Storm together.

Well-spoken. Very leaderly.
[She smiles, thin and amused.]
